A Love in Black and White: Timeless Elegance Through Every Detail
Designing in black and white is about more than a color palette, it’s a way of telling a story. Every choice, from blooms to linens, lighting to accents, plays a role in creating a mood that’s both personal and unforgettable. Recently, we had the joy of bringing two couples’ visions to life in this timeless style: Quiana and Tyronne at the Epicurean Hotel and Jared and Jenifer at the Waldorf Astoria Atlanta.
A Wedding in Noir: Quiana and Tyronne at The Epicurean Hotel
Set atop the rooftop of the Epicurean Hotel , Quiana and Tyronne’s wedding was as chic as it was deeply personal. The ceremony embraced an all-white palette, with lush florals and a pristine platform stage that popped against the courtyard greenery. Quiana carried a bouquet inspired by her late mother’s favorite blooms, featuring textured flowers and loops of black ribbon, a tender detail that made the day uniquely hers.
Inside, the reception was transformed into a bold black-and-white haven. Black satin draping framed the space, while the couple’s monogrammed dance floor became the room’s centerpiece. Guests dined at round tables dressed in alternating black satin and velvet linens, while the sweetheart table anchored the design. White florals in ribbed black vases, paired with tall taper candles, added dimension and drama without overwhelming the clean aesthetic. A sequin linen on the cake table sparkled under the light, drawing guests in.
Quiana and Tyronne asked their 100 guests to wear all black, amplifying the elegance and intimacy of the evening. Every element, from the florals to the fashion, worked together to create a cohesive “Wedding in Noir.”
Luxe and Modern: Jared and Jenifer at the Waldorf Astoria
Meanwhile, Jared and Jenifer’s intimate January wedding at the Waldorf Astoria Atlanta redefined modern elegance. The Azalea Ballroom welcomed guests with silver satin draping and a dramatic entrance for the bride. Every detail felt intentional, from the interplay of black velvet draping to textured white linens accented with silver.
In the Astor Ballroom, estate tables glowed under modern cluster candelabras, while round tables featured tall arrangements in glass vases layered with smaller florals at the base that created depth, balance, and visual interest for every guest. Jared and Jenifer’s choice of a white phalaenopsis orchid bouquet for the bride echoed throughout the centerpieces and groom’s boutonniere, unifying the day’s aesthetic. Their portraits by the Waldorf pool, her draped in white fur and him in a green velvet jacket, captured the romance and refinement of the crisp January day. Guests enjoyed live music during cocktail hour and left heartfelt messages on an audio guestbook, a personal touch that made the celebration even more memorable.
The Art of Black and White
Both weddings proved that black-and-white design is a celebration of intentional choices. Contrast, texture, and balance allow simplicity to transform into sophistication. Whether it’s an all-white rooftop ceremony, a monogrammed dance floor, or layered table designs, each element tells a story that feels both personal and timeless.
Designing in black and white is about balance, texture, and contrast. Every detail matters, and simplicity transforms into sophistication.
